If you've seen any of my other ratings you'll know that i rate off of feel and technical value. But I rate differently on songs designed for a specific game in mind, and I don't have any idea of what you want the song to feel like. So I'll tell you how I think the song feels, and how I think it could change.
The song has a distinct "chill", and Asiatic influence that makes me think of someone hangin' in a penthouse watching Bruce Lee classics (Enter the Dragon). The song has a noticeable funk influence that makes me think of the Now York or San-Francisco.
The only problem with it I really have is that at around 0:28 their is a piano chord played that stands out alot. It sounds like you're hand slipped or something.
Anyways if what I'm thinking lines up with the atmosphere you wanted to portray, then good job. If not, well it's still a great song by itself anyways.

It's very good, and very emotional. You can feel the sadness and resolution that goes perfectly with the title "It's what must be done". The perfect song for one of those mixed endings. The strings add a great touch, and the percussion is very good too. The strings melody is great. I like the way the intro fades, and warps in, it doesn't just build-up or, fade in, it kind-of twist in.
The song can get a little bit repetitive, so you should try to mix up the melody and beats a little.
This song is very good, so it would have been nice to hear at a bit higher quality, but it's not anything jeopardizing.
This song would be great with a hip-hop remix with lyrics. Nothing would have to change except a few breaks with nothing but the beat, or nothing but the strings, for a few rap solos, and the main melody with the beats and everything for the chorus. You should consider it.
I rate based off of technical assets, and emotional value. I rate each, then double the multiple score, add to technical and divide by three. This song get's a 10/10 for emotional, and 9/10 for technical. So that makes 9.66/10 or 10/10.

Wow thank you for such an extensive review! Repetitiveness seems to be a weak spot for me, but I'm staring to get over it. I wish the quality of this song was better as well, unfortunately, the flp. was lost long ago, so I can't redo it in any way, but thanks once again :]

This song is amazing. It reminds of the soundtrack for the film 7 Pounds with Will Smith. Though, I doubt you we're inspired by that, because I downloaded this song way before 7 Pounds came out, before I had an Newgrounds account.
You are perfect at creating that mechanical emotional sound. The song reminds me of, well exactly what the title says. Heartbeats, such a mechanical part of our body but it's referred to as a symbol for love, and other emotions. The mastering is perfect, whenever I listen to this song, I think of someone sacrificing everything they have to do good in the world. Someone who moves, and moves millions with him.
I rate based off of technical ability (mastering etc.) and emotion. Then multiply emotion by 2, add the technical score and divide by three. (By the way I forgot to do this with you're song ellipse.) You get a 10 in both so 10/10 totall.
Author's Response:
Yea, I saw 7 Pounds. But I can't remember what kind of soundtrack was there, so...
Thanks for a nice review. I agree with what you say, especially with "you are perfect..." part :P
My technical ability is far from perfect though.
Thanks again ;)

This song is amazing as is all of you're stuff. The way you mix the piano in with the electronic sound is great, and gives the song a sort of mechanical emotion. Like somebody who's made up their mind and won't be stopped no matter what. You're music is so powerful sounding. This song is top quality stuff. It sounds like a soundtrack to some emotional movie.
I just have one question (two technically): what program do you use, and what is the background sound in the beginning?
Author's Response:
This is actually what I want to achive - to be able to mix classical and electronic elements without turning a song into disaster.
For this song I used Reason, Ableton and some VST's aswell. I'm not sure which background sound are you referring to, so I'll just name everything I have in the beginning:
2 pads, a piano, an explosion and a reversed piano part from the end of the song.
Thanks again, man!

It's not exactly music, but very good! It portrays the techy dark feeling of "Cave of Wonders".
Author's Response:
yeah, i'd almost dare to call it "soundscape", but it's not really that either. some kind of mix, i guess. how about background sound? :)

You thought you did a good job, and you did. This is excellent. I've never seen (or played i'm not exactly sure what Inuyasha is, a game or a movie), but this song is amazing. It makes me think of the sad build-up before a battle that is ceratin doom. The kind of battle that is not for victory, but for the memory. Like the scenes before the ending battle on The Last Samurai with Tom Cruise.
THe song is simple, but elegant (siniuous in a way), and powerful (kind of the far-eastern philosophy, eh?).
You know the whole feeling/technical drill, so i'm not going to go through it, but you get 10/10 in both categories, so 10/10 overall. It was simple, but flowed well, and packed with emotion.

It's good, the intro is really good, but hte main melody seems kind-of... hollow? It needs something to fill it up more, maybe some type of low pad synth, or some strings, and a percussion. Other than theat it's good, kind of makes me think of someone starting on a long journey.
Again, I rate based of technical and feeling, feeling is doubled added with technical, divided by three. So, 9/10 for feeling (the energy build up at the beginning, but then seemed to stay at a plateau with no more build up or break-down) and 7/10 for technical (seemed a little too simple and complex). so that rounds to 8/10.
Keep up the good work you've got talent! (I see you changed you're other song to my suggested name :D) anyways, cheers!

Very creepy sounding, reminds me of the village level in Half life 2. The crows just bring the whole thing home. The ringing bell/synth at around 2:11 is a little odd, and kind of breaks the atmosphere though. It really makes me think of the title of the song, like a movie about a confield that no one goes into at night.
I rate songs based on feeling and technical-ness, feeling is doubled, added with technical, then divided by three. I give a 9/10 for feeling, and 8/10 for technical, that is 8.667 which rounds to 9/10 overall.
(lol, Orphan has wierd plot, that left me thinking "WHAT!? that doesn't make any sense!")
Author's Response:
Wow thanx man, I've been looking for someone to review my audio for quite some time. The Orphan movie was pretty weird. Who would've thought the ending would be like that though.

If this is you're first attempt at good techno, then I can't wait to here you're music a few months from now.
This song is really good, the introdduction is smooth, and draws you into the song, the beat is energetic, and the melody is vibrant and sinuous. It was tad repetitive, but hey! other than that the song was great.
I rate based off of feeling (how it makes the listener feel, and how well it does that), and technical assets. feel is doubled, added with technical rating, and the final is divided by three for my overall score. I give this song 9/10 for feeling ( it was energetic), and 9/10 for technical assets (tad repetitive, but smooth energetic beat and melody). So 9/10 overall.
Great job! keep up the good work, and good luck to you both musically, and generally :D !
Ooh, and just one more thing. I suggest you change the name, it doesn't really suit the song, and isn't very techno-esque. I think you should name it Sustained Flight, or Unstoppable, but maybe that's just me.
Author's Response:
Wow! Thanks! It means a lot that you took the time to do all that! :D And yes i wasn't sure about the song name either and will probably change the name to something like your suggestions!

It's a pretty good song, a little repetitive though, you should try to mix things up a bit in it. For some reason a picture it as a theme song for a 90's comedy/action tv show about a do-gooder cop, and his gangster friend who's constantly helping him with drug bust, but who also gets the cop in trouble. You should add some sirens in the background.
Oh, and to the to lame 0's it's called in instrumental retards, it isn't supposed to have lyrics. Movie soundtracks don't have lyrics do they? but movies wouldn't be half as good without INSTRUMENTAL music.
Back to the author:
don't worry about the 2 zeros, especially superveagag, he zero's all the music here because it's lacking in lyrics. Your stuff's pretty good.
anyways... I rate based of feel/image, and technical assets. my rating for feel is doubled, than added with technical value, and the final is divided by three for the final rating.
So I give this a 10/10 for feeling/image, and a 6/10 for technical assets (it was pretty repetitive). So that averages to 8/10.
Author's Response:
This was actually gonna be a background "loop" for someones project..... but it never came to fruition, so I uploaded it as is.
